“Liwanag sumikat na sa gitna ng dilim! Ilang panahong naghihintay, sumikat na ngayon!”

Hingal by VerseS

Written in 2005, these words illustrate VerseS’ journey that began as a collaborative passion two years before.

We were driven by faith to create good music,” said VerseS’ band leader and lead guitarist RD Marata who formed the alternative rock band together with bassist RX Reyes, vocalist JD Diño, drummer ZY Acedera and rhythm guitarist RY Banot.

The band’s music reflects their attitude towards life, and is deliberately written to be interpreted in various ways. It is just as intellectual and soothing as it is rock.  The music is a surprising mix resulting to an alternative to the alternative rock genre that we already know.

Their songs (penned by RD and JD) are inspired by themes of relationships (Ikaw, Reach Out, XTO), emotions (Tears, Magulong Isipan) and struggles (Home, Day and Night) with a touch of spirituality rolled together into a package of interesting musical ingenuity.

VerseS’ soon-to-be released debut album (tentatively called AGOS) contains 10 original tracks including an instrumental and acoustic version of Far Away.

Home is the place where I belong

From the beginning of a simple life

I wake each day calling out your name

Breathe every breath that I take

From the cradle of my life

I try to find the reasons why I’m here

Home, I wish I was home

I wonder what went wrong

Why I am here looking for some answers

Home, at least I know

From this day on and on

Until we reach the brighter side of dawn

They think that it was a game

But they don’t know to play along when the dice was rolled

They don’t even bother

‘Cause I have gone too far

With no one else to call

I’m still alone nobody else but me

Home, at least I know

Although it was incomplete

I have a dream

That someday we’ll be one home

If there’s no answers

There’ll be no questions

If there’s no tomorrow

There’ll be no everyday

If there’s no you and me

There’ll be no home

Home, I wish I was home

I wonder what went wrong

Why I am here looking for some answers

Home, at least I know

Although it was incomplete

I have a dream

That someday we’ll be one home
